The gpactivatestandby utility activates the Standby instance and promotes it to become the new Master instance of a MatrixDB cluster. This tool must be run on the host where the Standby instance resides.
After the Standby is activated as the new Master, the MatrixDB cluster will have no Standby instance. Users must use the gpinitstandby utility to recreate a new Standby.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| -a | Do not prompt for confirmation from the user. |
| -d standby_master_datadir | Absolute path to the data directory of the Standby to be activated. If this option is not specified, the value of the $MASTER_DATA_DIRECTORY environment variable is used. |
| -f | Force activation of the Standby. Use this option only when you are certain that the Standby is synchronized with the Master. |
| -l logfile_directory | Directory to write log files. The default is ~/gpAdminLogs. |
| -q | Run in quiet mode. Command output is suppressed from the screen but still written to the log file. |
| -v | Display the version, status, last update date, and checksum of this utility. |
| -? or -h or --help | Display help information. |
Activate the Standby located in the /gpdata directory:
gpactivatestandby -d /gpdata
